Briefing

Two days after the characters battle in the mecha hanger, they will be summoned to to Colonel Longworth office. The characters will be driven over to RDF Albuquerque's headquarters where the Colonel has his office.  They are waved through the security check point and descend into the fortified bunker.  Eventually they arrive at the Colonel's office and knock of the door.  The office is plainly decorated with a couple of pictures of pilots from his flying days in the old UN-SPACY piloting VF-1 Valkyries.  The colonel's desk is scattered with the paperwork necessary to operate a base of this size.  Colonel Longworth offers seats to all the players and then he will begin.

“As you all know the situation on Earth is critical.  The remaining  UEG forces are having a difficult time defending the last couple bases that were not destroyed while we were fighting the Robotech Masters.  I fear that we have spent all of our strength fighting each other that by the time that the Invid come they will be able to waltz right in.  With all communications lost between the REF and earth, our only hope is to send a messenger to let them know how critical the situation is.  You have been chosen for this mission, as you are among the best that we have to offer.  I have confidence that your will complete this mission and in the process be the saviors of the planet.

<The Colonel presses a panel on the table and a picture of a space dock housing a modified Garfish appears>

The remaining resources of the RDF and Southern Cross have gone towards the modification of one of the Garfish class destroyers that returned with Colonel Wolfe.  The SS. Rodger Young is currently located in low earth orbit in a temporary shipyard that was hastily constructed after the last Robotech Master mothership fell to earth.  The ship has been heavily modified  and outfitted with a Mark IV hyperspace generator designed by Louis Nicoles.  He has assured us that this will allow you to fold to Tirol in one jump.  In addition, most of the time dilation problems have been solved and only 6 months should pass in the normal universe during the jump.  These modifications have reduced the amount of space in the upper mecha bay to the point that only 4 destroids/veritechs can be stored and only  6 veritechs in the lower bay can be held.

Any resource that the RDF can provide will be given to you.  We do not expect any difficulties; however, best be prepared.  You will launch in 48 hours with a CDC supply shuttle loaded with any additional mecha that you wish to take with you on this mission.  Twelve hours later you will fold to Tirol at which point you are to inform REF high command of our desperate situation and request immediate reinforcements or there is the very real possibility that Earth will become another Invid protoculture farm.”

<GM’s note>  True to his word Lt. Colonel Longworth will offer any supplies that he has access to.  This includes any of the standard RDF and Southern Cross mecha and equipment and limited quantities of VAF-6B’s.

"To the Ship"

After the meeting breaks up and all questions are answered, the characters will be brought into one of the newer mecha hanger bays.  The groups mecha has been brought into the bay and teams of technicians are swarming over each one making sure that all vital systems are ready for the long journey.  A large sergeant will come over to the leader of the team, introduce himself as Master Sergeant Roper and proceed to ask what if any special equipment that the group may need.  He is under orders to provide anything reasonable that the base might have; however, if the players start to ask for the moon Roper will let the characters know of their mistake. The requisition process will take approximately four hours, after which time the characters will then have the remaining two days to themselves.

Forty Eight hours later at 06:00 the characters are to report to the CDC shuttle "Bull Dog" for transport to the space dock and rendezvous with the SS. Roger Young.  The shuttle appears to be fairly battered, obviously it has survived several close encounters with Robotech Master forces.  Upon further investigation, the characters will discover that the crew fought off no less than four Robotech Master Assault shuttles during the climatic final battle of the Second Robotech War.  The crew of the CDC "Bull Dog" will take care of all the flight and defensive weaponry of the ship.  This could lead to some problems with the characters if they insist that they take control of the weaponry; however, Commander Duncan (Captain of the Bull Dog) will be insistent.  One hour after the characters arrive on board the shuttle will launch towards the shipyard.

Unbeknownst to the characters, surviving Malcontent and Robotech Masters in South America have been watching the construction of the ship and have decided to launch an attack to capture the SS. Roger Young.  They have sent two Robotech Master assault ships along with several Zentraedi mecha.  Thirty minutes into the flight, the radar officer will inform the characters that she has detected a two Robotech Master Assault Crafts and (1D4 Zentraedi Fighter Pods per character and 1D4 Female Power Armors).  The Zentraedi and several bioroids from the first shuttle (GM should determine how many) will break off towards the CDC Bull Dog in an effort to delay and/or destroy the incoming RDF personal while the second Assault shuttle and the remaining bioroids attack the shipyard and defeat the small defense force there.

The characters will have to decide if they should divide there forces or stay with the shuttle and try to punch through the initial wave of enemy mecha.  In either case, the first wave of enemy forces will come within weapons range of the shuttle when it is still 100 kilometers from the shipyard.  At the same time, the second group will attack the defense squadron of 4 Ajax and 4 VF-1 Super Valkyrie fighters at the shipyard.  Unfortunately, the SS. Roger's Young weaponry is not power up <GM note:  If the battle is going poorly allow the Roger Young to power up and destroy some of the incoming enemies>.

Typical Enemy Forces:

Delay Group

Capture Group

Any shots at the SS. Roger Young must be made on a die roll of 12 or above, otherwise they will hit the surrounding shipyard structure (500 MDC).   Every melee one of the RDF mecha will be destroyed at a cost of two blue bioroids.  After 8 melees all the defenders will have been dispatched and there will still be 4 Blue and 1 Bioroid Terran fighter.  At this time the Assault shuttle will dock with the SS. Roger Young and begin boarding procedures.

Aftermath

If all appears lost, allow reinforcements to arrive from RDF Albuquerque base.  However, this should not happen unless several of the characters mecha have been destroyed. If the Roger Young has not been unduly damaged, it will fold in 24 hours after the characters depart.  Any losses that the characters might have suffered will be replaced with another shuttle craft before the SS. Roger Young folds to Tirol.  Colonel Longfellow will send up any necessary reinforcements within twenty-four hours.

Eventually, the SS. Roger Young will leave space dock on course for on of the Lagrange points where it will fold to Tirol.  When the ship is in position they will received this final order from Longfellow:

“Good-luck and God speed Rogue Squadron, come back quickly as the Invid will be on our doorstep at any second.”  With those words, the ship will enter into hyperspace.
