ARMOR STATISTICAL DATA:

HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT SUIT:  The Hostile Environment Suit, or HES, was designed by Earth Defense Forces in late 2009 to fill the need for an environmental suit which could be used for both combat and engineering duties.  The HES is designed to operate primarily in space, possessing 10 hours of oxygen and two GE MR-7 micro-thrusters on the rear for propulsion.  The suit is composed of a plastic ceramic composite designed to protect the wearer from both micro-meteorites and small arms fire.  The  HEV provides the user immunity from all small arms fire, less than 9mm, and moderate protection for personal weaponry up to 12.7 mm in caliber.  However, all anti-mecha weaponry will easily puncher the suit.

Except for a couple of special forces operations in 2010, the HES was rarely used in combat operations as users found the suit too unwieldy under combat situations.  As a direct result, the RDF designed the CVR-1.   However, as an engineering environmental suit the HEV excelled.  The HEV was used as the standard environmental suit into the 2050's.

STANDARD EQUIPMENT FOR HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT SUIT

CVR-1: Designed as a replacement for the HEV environmental suit, the CVR-1 was introduced in 2015.  Both the Robotech Defense Forces and Armies of the Southern Cross quickly adapted to use the CVR-1 as their primary personal protection.  The CVR-1 is in actuality seven pieces of armor (2 leg, 2 arms, groin, torso, and helmet) which fit over an environmental suit and to provide protection.  Unlike the HEV, the CVR-1 provides the user a reasonable amount of mobility.

The suit is composed of a plastic ceramic composite designed to protect the wearer from  small arms fire.  The  CVR-1 provides the user immunity from all small arms fire, less than 9mm, and moderate protection for personal weaponry up to 12.7 mm in caliber.  However, all anti-mecha weaponry will easily puncher the suit.  Due to the modular aspect of the armor there are several areas which are unarmored. These areas include the upper arms, inside legs and a small strip around the belly.

From 2015 until 2020, the CVR-1 saw extensive use during the Malcontent uprisings providing protection to both mecha pilots and infantry units.  However by 2020, the CVR-1 was beginning to show its age as newer armor was designed to provide superior protection.  The REF forces replaced the CVR-1 with the more flexible CVR-2 combat armor and the ASC began to design their own armor for each of their field armies.  By 2025 the CVR-1 had been relegated to reserve units and for use by the Global Military Police

SMALL ARMS STATISTICAL DATA:

COLT "WOLF"  9MM:  Produced from light weight alloys made possible through the advances brought about because of over-technology during the years leading up to the First Robotech War, the Colt 9mm was designed to replace the G15 as the standard side arm of all Earth Defense Forces.  First introduced in 2015, early quantities were issued to Colonel Wolf's "Wolf Pack" forces in South America.  The weapons were prominently shown in news clips with Colonel Wolf and hence the Colt acquired its nick name of the Wolf 9mm.  The weapons proved themselves superior to the older G15 and were used throughout the Robotech Wars.

RL-2 95MM ROCKET LAUNCHER :

RL-6 ROCKET LAUNCHER :

80MM SMI-2 MORTAR:  Designed before the Global Civil War the SMI-2 is a highly mobile and rugged mortar.  The weapon under standard operating conditions requires two personnel to operate, one to carry the mortar and the second to carry the rounds.  The SMI-2 can make use of both fragmentation and high explosive rounds for military applications or smoke, chemical and flare rounds for civil duties.  Although, the SMI-2 saw limited use during the 2010's with the RDF, it was common with civil defense forces and was used through 2030.
