VF-1A

Statistics

Weapons

Description

The VF-1A is the standard veritech assigned to all rookie pilots.  The mecha distinguishes itself from other models with a single Mauser RÖV-20 laser mounted on top of the head; however, head lasers are not used in game.  The VF-1A does not excel in any area with average armor, maneuverability, and weaponry when compared to other Veritech models.  In the early missions of the game, until you receive the VF-1J in Chapter 2 "Knife's Edge, this is the Veritech which you will typically use.

VT-1D

Statistics

Weapons

Description

The VT-1D is a two seat trainer Veritech with two head lasers.  The VT-1D is the slowest and least maneuverable of all veritech models.  The VT-1D possess a miniscule missile loadout and lacks the advanced targeting system of all the combat models.  However, the VT-1D has the greatest armor of any Veritech.  You must use the VT-1D for the training missions, but in combat only take the VT-1D for ground missions where you plan on staying in battloid mode and taking a substantial amount of damage.

VF-1J

Statistics

Weapons

Description

The VF-1J is a single seat Veritech fighter for low-ranking officers.  The VF-1J has two head lasers on top which gives it the appearance similar to the VT-1D trainer.  However, this is where the similarity between the two units ends.  The VF-1J design sacrifices some armor from the VF-1A, to improve its maneuverability and missile payload.  The VF-1J possesses the same targeting computer as the VF-1A and has similar top end speed.

VF-1S

Statistics

Weapons

Description

The VF-1S is the most advanced version of the Vertiech Fighter and is reserved exclusively for high-ranking officers and squadron leaders.  The VF-1S mounts four head lasers and possesses the most advanced targeting computer capable of locking onto multiple targets simultaneously.  This Veritech is the most maneuverable and has the highest top end speed of any of the standard models, with only the experimental YF-1R model surpassing the VF-1S in those qualities.  The VF-1S does not come within out its disadvantages, as the Veritech sacrifices a substantial amount of armor for this performance increase.

YF-1R

Statistics

Weapons

Description

The YF-1R is an experimental upgrade to the standard VF-1A.  The YF-1R sacrifices almost all of its armor to obtain the highest top end speed and maneuverability of any Veritech fighter.  The YF-1R is similar to the standard -A model, but mounts two top mounted lasers between a single autocannon.  The YF-1R also possesses an advanced targeting computer, similar to the VF-1S, and increased missile payload, over the VF-1A.  This mecha excels in aerospace combat, but should not be taken for missions in which a substantial amount of damage will be taken.

ARMORED VERITECH

Statistics

Additional Weapons

Description

The Armored Veritech is not a separate class, but a series of armored packs and missile launchers placed over a standard Vertech model.  The the armor can be used in any situation, but because of its massive weight the Armored Veritech is best taken in spaceborne missions.  In addition to the standard weaponry provided by the base model Veritech, the Armored Veritech provides two light missile launchers in the shoulders, arms, and legs with heavy missile launchers in the hip and chests.  The armor prohibits the Vertiech from transforming in any mode except battloid.  To eject the armor, the pilot must transform into something other than battloid and then press the special abilities button.  The Armored Veritech is not available in any of the single player missions.

SUPER VERITECH

Statistics

Additional Weapons

Description

Like the Armored Veritech, the Super Veritech is a series of armor packs, missile launchers, and boosters which are added on top of a standard Veritech model.  The addition of the boosters increases the aerodynamic drag to such an extent that the Super Veritech can only be used in space.  However unlike the Armored Veritech, the Super can transform into any of the three modes while using the armor.  You can not discard the armor and only when the armor of the boosters have been depleted will it automatically come off.  Once you have unlocked the Super Veritech, any time you are in a space mission you are advised to take the Super Armor.

DEFENDER

Statistics

Weapons

Description

The Defender is one of three Destroids based off the standard Tomahawk chassis, the Phalanx and Tomahawk as the other two.  The Defender was designed to provide long range anti-aircraft protection for other Destroids, ground facilities, or starcraft.  The Defender is armed with four RF-X rapid fire laser cannons capable of engaging targets a extreme ranges.  The Defender is the lightest of all Destroids and is one of the fastest and most maneuverable of its class.

MONSTER

Statistics

Weapons

Description

The Monster is the largest Destroid produced by the Robotech Defense Forces.  Designed as a walking artillery piece, the Monster was created to be used against heavily armored targets such as starships and static defenses with excellent long range weaponry.  However, the Monster lacks any short range weapon and relies on other supporting units to defend it.  The onboard weaponry coupled its massive armor makes the Monster the slowest and least maneuverable of all Destroids.

PHALANX

Statistics

Weapons

Description

The Phalanx is based off the standard Tomahawk design and intended to serve as a walking missile battery providing long  range anti-air and artillery support.  The Phalanx's only weaponry are two massive missile launchers mounted on both arms each one capable of firing up to 16 volleys of light missiles.  Other than the Monster, the Phalanx is the second slowest and one of the least maneuverable mecha.  As a result, the Phalanx is rarely seen on the front line and is usually operating in a reserve role.

SPARTAN

Statistics

Weapons

Description

The Spartan, like the Monster, was designed on a unique body type.  The Spartan is the only Destroid with hands, which allows it to function in a wide variety of peace-keeping roles in addition to its military capabilities.  The Spartan is the fastest and most maneuverable of all Destroids; however, it mounts only relatively light weaponry and average armor.

TOMAHAWK

Statistics

Weapons

Description

The Tomawak is perhaps the most well rounded of all the Destroids.  The mecha is mounted with weaponry which can effectively engage targets at all ranges and can easily destroy a Tactical Battle Pod with only a couple of shots from its massive particle beam cannons.  The unit has heavy armor and is highly maneuverable.  The units only weakness is the Tomahawk's relatively slow speed compared to other RDF Destroids.  The Tomahawk was commonly found on the front lines of any battle with the Zentraedi, and is the mecha of choice for Hiro Ishi one of Jack Archer friends.
